Reaction: Ergonomics - Jack
I never considered the lengths that companies go through to make devices ergonomic. I can see the need for intuitive input methods. I know that one of the key difficulties facing electronic medical data is an easy and efficient way of input. Although current research shows that keyboard input seems to be most efficient, there are studies that show gesture inputs to be promising. Making handheld devices work well with one hand is a major challenge that must be addressed to make using handheld devices seamless. The paper addresses tactile IO and i believe that further research needs to be done in this field to help take advantage of tactile IO. For example, brail output on a phone would be quite helpful for the blind.
